It takes a lot to distract shoppers from the designer retail temptations on offer at Plaza del Duque, but on a balmy evening as the blue sky turned to a star flecked black, a spring fashion show took centre stage on the polished walkways and chill out terraces of this Costa Adeje commercial centre.

New visitors were pleasantly surprised by the transformation at the hub of the modern shopping wheel, but frequent discerning shoppers took it in their stride, just another quality serving from a centre that always offers them more.

Leading brand names from the fashion industry, like Versace, Sonia Rykiel, Mango, Gianfranco Ferre, Pepe Jeans and Very Galiano, were all on display as their spring collections were modelled with a cool flair by men, women and children – familes are always kept in mind at Plaza del Duque.

It’s the perfect setting for a fashion show, Plaza del Duque rubs shoulders with 4 and 5 star hotels in a vibrant area where even the long stretch of beach is in a class of it’s own. Attention to detail means that first impressions of the commercial centre set the tone for what is to follow. A circular concourse rings the building and the spotless stone floor is interspersed with seating and flower arrangements. The entrance and exit ramp to the free parking below, are not left out of the style regime, mosaic tiles decorate the walls and chrome barriers ensure safe passage.

The designer names have already caught the eye before you enter into the central core of the centre, which matches your expectations with a central tower rising into the open sky as the sun streams down on the restaurants and cafes that offer a wide range of ways to refuel between exploring.

Escalators will glide you down to the lower level where more shops unfold as well as a selection of children’s rides and easy access to the parking zones. It’s not just about shopping, banks and cash points are here for your convenience and Costa Adeje have a tourist information office to help make your stay in Tenerife a fulfilling one.

The walkways are well designed to give you browsing space and time to catch the enchanting aroma of all the latest fragrances for men and women and small springs bubble gently in the water features between further seating.

Going back up to the ground level or the restaurants on the terrace above, the mountains of Adeje will catch your eye, as far as the highest of them all, Mount Teide. Plaza del Duque is open every day from 10 am until 10 pm, and in the evening as night rolls in, the subtle lighting around the centre comes into play, creating a change of mood with the emphasis moving from snacks and coffees to lavish meals served with fine wines.

Back at the fashion show, the outfits are changing too from daytime casual and beach wear, to evening chic. There may be a few more layers and more subdued colours, but the style is still unmistakable, and the appreciative audience are making mental notes of which shops to visit to find their favourite stars of the catwalk.
